Europe is Getting Windier

Europe is getting windier!  According to European Wind Energy Association, the amount of installed wind energy this year will nearly equally the amount of installed natural gas.

Four years ago, installed gigawatts of gas more than doubled installed gigawatts of wind.  However, by 2008, new wind power finally passed new natural gas power.  While natural gas still generates more in regards to total capacity, the momentum and growth of wind has proven its ability to compete with coal and natural gas.  Germany and Britain are the two leading countries that will be installing the most wind power.

With the oil crisis in the gulf, the transition to clean, renewable energy forms is needed now more than ever in the US, who still lags far behind Europe on renewable energy development.  Check out the New York Times article online.!
